Fortified delivers solutions and capabilities to deployed personnel who require instant, reliable and secure infrastructure for command and control, communications, and surveillance. Fortified combines advanced patent pending power management systems, industry leading fourth generation mobile mesh networking technologies, field based asset and personnel tracking solutions and tactical high-speed IP-based communications capabilities to meet the global market demands of:
Fortified DataCom provides communications and remote sensing technologies which improves the situational awareness of deployed military personnel. Our industry leading geospatial data management software application (VantagePoint) improves the flow of location specific data to field personnel, our NOMAD platform ensures that deployed warfighters have access to mission critical decision support information anywhere and under any condition, and our Tactical Access Points (TAPs) provide the ability of forward deployed personnel to instantly create reliable, secure, high speed information networks for voice, video and data communications. Today, the U.S Army and the U.S. Air Force have deployed the NOMAD platform to improve their ability to respond at time of crisis.
Fortified’s management team and Advisors currently includes the first Chief Information Officers (CIO) of the Department of Homeland Security (Steve Cooper) and the former CIO of the CIA and DIA (Alan Wade). With the knowledge and experiences gained by our management in their roles of leading our country’s technology focused efforts in Homeland Security, Fortified has developed solutions and capabilities that improve DHS’s ability to turn data into knowledge, knowledge into action, and action into success. Our NOMAD platform and deployable Tactical Access Points currently deliver reliable instant communications infrastructure to all FEMA regions, to the U.S. Coast Guard’s Deployable Operations Group, to the Wireless Management office of DHS and to regional DHS offices throughout the country.
We don’t know when or where the next Forest fire, Earthquake, Hurricane, Flood, Tornado, or even terrorist attack will occur. We do know however that it could happen anywhere or at any time. At Fortified we help our nation to prepare and understand that First Responders who respond at time of crisis require the ability to communicate and instantly gain situational awareness.
Designed for the critical incident responder, Fortified’s NOMAD platform plays a major role in how or nation responds at time of crisis. As one of FEMA’s primary communications solutions, NOMADs are currently deployed to every FEMA region and have been deployed in support of floods in the Midwest, tornados in the South, and even wildfires in California.
Humanitarian aid workers can be found in every corner of the world and in many cases in areas with little to no infrastructure. For this reason when aid workers from organizations like Samaritans Purse travel to remote regions, they take a NOMAD C4 with them in order to ensure teams of field personnel always have the ability to communicate no matter where they are.
The City of New Orleans Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department, Coventry Rhode Island Police Department, Monroe Louisiana Police are a few of the Law Enforcement agencies around the country that are currently deploying Fortified’s NOMAD Incident response, mobile mesh networking and deployable surveillance solutions.
Objectives:
The FY 2008 CEDAP complements the FEMA National Preparedness Directorate’s other major grant programs to enhance regional response capabilities, mutual aid, and interoperable communications by providing technology and equipment, together with training and technical assistance required to operate that equipment, to public safety agencies in smaller jurisdictions and certain metropolitan areas.
Background:
The FY 2007 CEDAP provided equipment, equipment training, and equipment technical assistance valued at approximately $33.7 million to first responder organizations across the Nation. This competitive program is a direct assistance program, not a grant program, and FEMA will provide the equipment and technical assistance directly to the selected jurisdictions. This means that CEDAP awards are not monetary awards; applicants may select one item from the menu of available equipment choices, and successful applicants will receive the item they specified in their application.
Eligibility:
Eligible applicants include law enforcement agencies, fire, and other emergency responders who demonstrate that the equipment will be used to improve their ability and capacity to respond to a major critical incident or work with other first responders. Awardees must not have received equipment/funding under the Urban Areas Security Initiative or the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program for which the Award Date is October 1, 2006 or later. Organizations must submit applications through the Responder Knowledge Base (RKB) website at www.rkb.us.
